Pick the person after recording

My FanCam, introduced with Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold8 series, tracks a selected person through a video. The footage can already be in your library—even if another device recorded it.

Samsung says the processing runs on the phone. After an initial analysis of multiple people, you can switch subjects without repeating that whole analysis. You can also change the output’s aspect ratio, as the company’s portrait, square and landscape examples show.

Give the crop room to work

Samsung’s developers recommend recording at high resolution and leaving space around your subject. Select the person in a frame where their face or body is visible and other people are not heavily overlapping them. That selection can happen midway through the clip.

The practical idea is simple: keep a wide record of a performance or family moment, then make a person-centered edit later. Fast movement and overlapping people were development challenges Samsung describes, so review the final crop where people cross paths. A useful first trial is an existing group clip with a clearly visible subject.
