A short rewind, presented as text

Apple describes Live Rewind in its Watch Series 12 announcement as a way to recover something just said. Double-pressing the Digital Crown brings up the previous 15 seconds as a text snippet. Users can ask Siri about that text or save it in the Siri app.

Why that small window is interesting

A whole conversation can be more information than you need. Sometimes the missing piece is a name, the last instruction or which turn someone mentioned. Our reading of the design is that it targets that immediate gap: a quick glance while the context is still fresh.

That makes recognition and timing important. The useful result would be finding the missed words quickly enough to continue the conversation, rather than opening a long transcript and searching through it.

Check the actual setup

Apple says Live Rewind and Siri Recap will arrive in beta later in 2026. Watch Series 12 hardware reaches stores September 18; the feature is not promised for that date. It requires Watch Series 12 or Ultra 4 paired with an Apple Intelligence-enabled iPhone 16 or later, excluding iPhone 16e. English is the initial language and the feature is not initially available in the EU.

If this feature interests you, the questions worth answering in a hands-on review are concrete: how easily does the snippet capture the words you missed, and how readable is it at a glance? The announcement establishes the intended workflow; those are the experiences to examine next.
