Travel search moves into conversation
Radisson Hotel Group announced a ChatGPT experience for discovering hotel options. Instead of beginning with a long filter form, a traveler can describe a destination, dates and preferences in natural language and refine the search through follow-up questions. OpenAI lists the integration among its customer deployments announced October 7.
The assistant can make early exploration easier to explain: “near the station, family room, late arrival” is a more natural starting point than checking boxes across multiple pages. The final booking steps remain connected to Radisson’s own process, where a traveler can confirm the property and terms.
A useful interface, with familiar limits
A conversational search can reduce friction, but it still needs current inventory, accurate prices and clear booking conditions. The announcement is about hotel discovery, not a claim that ChatGPT independently completes every reservation. Readers should confirm cancellation rules, fees and availability in the final booking flow.
For travel brands, this is a test of where customers begin shopping. If users can move from a broad idea to a short, relevant list in a conversation, the assistant becomes an entry point to the brand’s own inventory. The more valuable question is whether the suggestions are reliable and convert without hiding the trade-offs that matter to travelers.
