A small agent model gets a local route

Ollama v0.35.1 adds support for Cloudflare’s Clef and Clef Flash decision models through the `/v1/systemone` interface. The release also supports image input and adds a `CAPABILITY` declaration to Modelfiles, so an agent can describe the tools or functions a model supports.

Cloudflare introduced Clef as a family of compact decision models for routing and tool selection. Running the models through Ollama gives builders another way to experiment with them in a local development setup rather than treating the feature as a cloud-only endpoint.

Ten searches instead of three

The same Ollama release raises the number of web searches an agent can make in one response from three to ten. That matters for tasks that need to gather information across several sources before producing an answer. The release note documents the new limit; it does not mean every answer needs ten searches.

A higher ceiling can help a research workflow reach more pages, but source selection and citation quality still determine whether the final answer is trustworthy. Developers should give the agent a clear stopping rule and verify that it uses the results rather than simply accumulating links.

A useful developer update, not a finished product

The release is a practical integration: named model support, image inputs, capability declarations and a larger search budget in one version. Builders can combine those pieces when prototyping a local agent.

For users, the value depends on the models’ behavior and the surrounding tool setup. Ollama’s release notes provide the implementation details, while Cloudflare’s model announcement explains the Clef family’s intended role.
