Your next video could start with its own soundtrack

A birthday song, background music for a clip, a playful opening jingle: Google’s Lyria 3.5 gives Gemini users more ways to shape a track around an idea.

The September 4 release adds genre choices or descriptions, vocal and instrumental options, templates, and shorter or longer tracks. Google also describes improvements in vocal expression, arrangement and fidelity.

The decisions that matter

You do not need to start with technical music language. Start with the job: should this energize a scene, sit quietly behind speech, or carry the whole moment?

If someone is talking in the video, an instrumental option is a sensible first experiment. If the music is the message, a vocal track gives you a different direction. Those are creative choices to try, rather than settings with one correct answer.

Where it is available

Google says Lyria 3.5 is available globally in Gemini on web and mobile, with access also through the Gemini API, Flow Music, AI Studio and Google Vids.

For a first test, give the tool a specific mood and intended length. A concrete brief is easier to assess than asking for a song that is simply “good.”
