One model, several different kinds of robot work
Google’s Gemini 4 Argon announcement is most convincing when viewed as a set of distinct demonstrations rather than a single benchmark. The model scores 87% on Google’s Embodied Reasoning benchmark, and the company shows it reasoning about robot control, simulated environments, video and physical task data. Those are Google’s reported results, not an independent evaluation.
In one clip, Boston Dynamics Spot picks up a can, practices the motion in a MuJoCo digital twin, steps on a pedal bin and drops the can inside. A second example uses a bimanual robot to fold an origami fox while producing time-aligned labels for subtasks and contact-level actions. A third steers a video world model through intermediate frames until two robot hands arrange scattered tiles to spell ARGON.
The strongest result is the feedback loop
The demonstrations also include a vision-only solver that moves 12 balls onto a balance scale to identify the odd one in at most three weighings, and a small SO-101 arm that improves a pick-and-place task across repeated attempts. Google reports the arm’s time fell from 58.9 seconds on the first try to 17.4 seconds on the third, with the final block landing more accurately.
For a broader robot benchmark, Google says Argon generated more than 4,500 randomized simulation episodes and helped raise a real-world task success rate from 56% to 75%, while reducing completion time from 35 to 24 seconds. The practical shift is that a model can help construct and refine the practice environment, not only issue a motion command.
What the clips do—and do not—establish
These are prompted demonstrations built around specified skills, control interfaces and evaluation tasks. They show how a model may connect perception, code, simulation and robot actions; they do not prove that an off-the-shelf robot can safely perform arbitrary household jobs. Google lists access through the paid Gemini API tier and Google AI Ultra. The next test is whether independent teams can reproduce the gains on different hardware and tasks.
