A board, not another chat answer
OpenAI’s Astra launch includes a KiCad demonstration of printed circuit board layout. The task starts from an electronic schematic and involves positioning components and routing copper connections. The side-by-side visual shows the layout alongside a three-dimensional board view.
The supplied video is a 15-second condensed playback. That is the length of the presentation, not a measurement of how long the model took to complete the engineering work.
The detail worth watching
Watch the traces accumulate between parts. A board can look complete in a rendered view while the underlying layout still needs careful inspection. That makes the relationship between the two views more interesting than the finished green rectangle alone.
For a real project, ask for the editable project and a clear account of checks performed. An attractive board render does not independently establish that the design will pass electrical review, fabrication checks or physical testing.
A better way to try computer use
Pick one bounded task with a result you can inspect: arrange a small design, generate the project files, then compare the output against the requirements. Record what required intervention and what you had to correct.
The useful shift is from receiving instructions about software to inspecting work produced inside it. Our example is OpenAI’s demonstration, not a board we manufactured or independently tested.
